Subversion Global Ignores

I do most of my web development with Eclipse and I really don’t like adding the “project” files into my subversion repository.  Since the files are always the same name I was going to add them to the Global Ignore configuration sheet. It took some hunting around my system to find it – should really start thinking linux when I go searching for this crap….

Anyway all you need to do is open your Terminal and edit the following file
~/.subversion/config

The fastest why to find the line you need to edit is to do a search for global-ignores, you should stumble across a line the looks similar to this
global-ignores = *.o *.lo *.la *.al .libs *.so *.so.[0-9]* *.a *.pyc *.pyo *.rej *~ #*# .#* .*.swp .DS_Store

Uncomment the line by removing the # and add your additional exclusions, I appended the following to the end of the line (.project .settings settings.xml) . Save the file and you are all set.
